Cookie notice

Version dated 21 Oct 2026. What Sakhani stores in your browser, and why.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise you on your next request. Some cookies are necessary for a site to work; others track you across sites. Sakhani uses the first kind and, unless you agree, none of the second kind.

Cookies the application sets

  • Session cookie: the one cookie the application sets. It keeps you logged in, is set when you log in, is marked HttpOnly so that scripts cannot read it, is sent only over a secure connection, and is removed when you log out or when the session expires.
  • This cookie is necessary for the service and is set without consent, as the law allows. Forms are protected against cross-site request forgery by checking the origin of each request, which needs no cookie.

Cookies the public website sets

The public website sets no cookies of its own. If an analytics tag (Google Analytics) or an advertising tag (Meta pixel) is switched on, the site shows a consent banner before any such cookie is set, and nothing is set if you decline. The banner lets you change your choice at any time. The privacy notice names each provider that is live.

Local storage

The public website remembers your answer to the consent banner in your browser's local storage, so that it does not ask again. The application stores nothing else in your browser. This data never leaves your device and is cleared when you clear your browser data.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the session cookie prevents you from logging in. Questions go to the Information Officer at info@sakhani.co.za.
